What is Ginger Aromatherapy Used For?

You are no doubt familiar with ginger, as it is the prime ingredient in ginger ale and gingerbread. The scent of ginger is warm, a bit sharp, sometimes with a hint of lemon. In herbal medicinal preparations and teas, ginger is commonly used for nausea. It can also be used to ease the pain of monthly female cramps when used in a massage oil and applied to the area. There are many uses in the world of alternative medicine for ginger. When it comes to ginger aromatherapy, it can be used to soothe a queasy stomach, stimulate the appetite and even boost the libido as some believe.

Ginger CO essential oil can be purchased online or at health food stores. Some supermarkets such as Whole Foods Market may also have an essential oil selection. You can also buy a wide variety of aromatherapy products that contain ginger oil as a primary ingredient. One example is Bella Vida Lemongrass and Ginger aromatherapy kit. This set comes with a scented lotion, body oil and fragrance in spray bottle, all the products you need to surround yourself with this soothing fragrance.

Another product is Aura Cacia Ginger Mint Aromatherapy Mist. Aura Cacia is well known for their line of essential oils, but they also make fragrance sprays like this one, bath products are more. This product is made from mountain spring water and pure essential oils. You can use this spritz on your body or to scent your home, it is so gentle. The warmth of ginger and the tingle of mint are the perfect combination for after a tough workout or just when you need an energy boost.

If you want to experiment with ginger aromatherapy using essential oil, make sure you are buying authentic ginger essential oil and not copycat fragrance oil. Also, do not apply any essential oil directly to the skin without diluting it first. To use ginger essential oil, gently wave the open bottle under your nose to inhale the scent. Or, add a few drops to a hankie or tissue and inhale as needed, the scent should last for hours. Using cotton balls and tissues scented with essential oil is a stealthy but effective way to fragrance your home and even your car by stashing them out of sight, and of course out of reach of children and pets.
